Welcoming 2014

Usually people would be writing about how sad it is to see another year pass and they'd talk about all the great things they did that year and how much they enjoyed it. Not me though, aha. I am so excited for 2014 and I can't wait to see the end of 2013. I didn't enjoy 2013 that much, right at the start of the year I did but then it kind of went downhill and I hated it. Obviously I'm still thankful for all the things I got to do, it just wasn't the best year I've had so far. I was lucky enough to visit Disneyland Paris as a school trip which was absolutely amazing as it's one of my favourite places I've been to in the whole world (yep I'm a huge Disney fan). The following month I got to see one of my all time favourite bands in concert, One Direction! I enjoyed it so much and I got so many great photos! Those are the two stand out moments of 2013 for me. I also started this blog in June which is one of the best decisions I've made!
I love the changing of the years because I feel like it gives you a motivation to do something, whether it's something like lose weight or just do something you've always wanted to. Fallouts and arguemets can be forgotten and left in 2013 whilst you move onto 2014. You get a fresh start and you can learn from the mistakes that you've made in 2013. This year there's a lot I want to do/ change in 2014, the main goal being to lose weight and achieve a flat tummy because I'm sick of being the "big" friend. I feel rather determined right now (don't know how long that will last! Haha) and I want people to be able to see results and be like "wow" and I know this sounds weird but I want to have a body that people envy. I also want to try and be nicer to people in 2014.. This has been a New Years resolution for many years but nothing seems to change but I want to change it now. I'm not going to change drastically because I don't want to become a completely different person I just want to be the best version of myself. I would like to stop procrastinating and get things done and I really want to do more. Like get out more and go places with my friends. I want to look back on 2014 and be proud of what I've achieved and be happy to look back on all the amazing things I've done. I'm looking forward to going to Italy with my school, I'm also a little nervous as I'll be getting on a plane for the first time in 12 years! Another exciting event that I'm looking forward to is seeing a 5sos (One Direction's support act)  concert. After having such a bad year in 2013, I'm determined to make 2014 my year. I hope you all have a great new year and stick with those resolutions!

Hayden Williams: Disney Divas For Vogue

Back when I first started my blog, which was around June, on of my first posts was on one of my favourite designers, Hayden Williams. He recently came out with a new collection and it's by far one of my favourites so I just had to share it. Previously he had created a collection called "Disney Divas" (which is mentioned in more detail in my other post) and he has now come out with the "Disney Divas For Vogue" collection which is the Disney princesses on Vogue covers. I love how they look so modern and "model" like whilst sticking to the Disney roots. Overall, I think the collection is very creative and unique.
This one is my personal favourite as Rapunzel is my favourite princess although the others are great too. This one has actually replaced the Story Of My Life single cover as my lock screen.
I haven't done a proper blog post on a while so it feels nice to be back! I have a few others posts planned which I look forward to sharing with you all!

Quick Christmas Gift Ideas

I think everyone has been in that situation where you only have a few days left to buy Christmas presents and you hardly have any money left. I know I have! With Christmas fast approaching I thought I'd share some cheap gift ideas with you guys. With me being a teenager, I don't have a ton of money to spend on my friends, as much as I would love to spend a lot of money on them each but as I have quite a few people to buy for, my budget just doesn't stretch that far. I usually spend around £2 on each of my friends and then £5 if it is for a secret Santa gift.
Here's a few simple gift ideas...
1. Jewellery
Topshop and New Look have a great selection of jewellery and you might be thinking "but that's expensive?" And normally it is, however I would recommend checking the sales. And no, that's not a "cheap" gift. After all it is still a good quality brand and a lovely gift to receive only it saves you a lot of money meaning you have more money left over or you can buy extra for friends...or yourself!

2. Pound Shop/Home Bargins etc
This might sound really tacky to a lot of people and I would probably think so as well but being I regular in poundland etc. I know some good good little things you can buy. Obviously there's the basic chocolate but you can actually sometimes get Thorntons which would be a lot more expensive else where. One of my favourite things in "cheap stores" is the makeup section. I often find some really nice products by proper brands, for example Maybelline or Rimmel. A few posts back I did a tiny poundland haul where I mentioned picking up two Barry M lip glosses. Home Bargins also has a really good range of scented candles for super cheap and I think they would make lovely gifts. I recommend checking out the home aisle in these kind of shops as you can get some really sweet vintage style, shabby chic items.

3. Body Mists
I have already told my friends I am probably getting them these for Christmas so it doesn't matter if they read this post. Anyway, I think this year I will be getting my friends the Boots Natural Collection Body Sprays. They are only £2 each and I believe they are on 3 for 2 during the Christmas period. The scents a really "powerful" and last a long time as well as being so lovely! I think nearly all girls at my school are obsessed with these sprays!

4. Room Decor
In stores like BandM Bargins and Home Bargins, there is usually always a great home section (like I mentioned above) where you can pick up really cute photo frames or jewellery stands etc. Personally, I love that kind of things like little shabby chic, vintage items. If you buy a photo frame, you can add a photo of you and the person you are giving it to for a really nice thoughtful gift. These kind of shops also have really nice scented candles for really cheap. They sell the glade ones and big jar ones which I think are meant to be a kind of dupe for Yankee Candles. There's usually the cute Christmassy/winter scents and I think these would make fantastic gifts.

Little Mix Outfits on Sweat The Small Stuff

Here in the UK we have a TV show called Sweat The Small Stuff which is hosted by the famous Grimmy (Nick Grimshaw). It features celebrity guests talking about little things in life that make them sweat. For the final episode of series two which aired this Tuesday! the guests were non other than Little Mix. As soon as I found out that they were on I knew they would be dressed amazingly and it turns out, I was right..
I loved Jade's outfit, she went for a simple cherry print shirt from topshop with a basic black skirt. The whole outfit worked really well together and it looked super fashionable with a touch of cuteness to show Jade's personality and style.
Jesy wore a black bodycon mesh dress which looked really nice and simple. I am also a huge fan of her hairstyle which was two very loose braids.
Leigh-Anne went for a basic white shirt which looked very classy and elegant. She also opted for a similar hairstyle to Jesy's but only had one messy, loose side braid.
Perrie being the queen of fashion, wore a tartan jacket and skirt. Tartan is becoming very popular lately so Perrie's outfit is very on trend. I love that Perrie and her stylist(s) know exactly what's fashionable and what suits her. I have also been seeing this skirt worn by a lot of different celebrities in different colours.
I love Little Mix's style and I think they can be considered to be very inspirational in terms of fashion. I had written a huge Christmas tag part two and deleted it by accident after I'd posted it and I got extremely annoyed so I decided to do a different post. Recently I haven't done many fashion posts so I thought this was a good idea and I was planning on doing it anyway.
Also I've made an istagram and twitter for my blog!

O Christmas Tree...

I will quite happily admit that I'm a big kid when it comes to Christmas. There's just something about it that I love and I can't see how anyone can possible be a Scrooge about the whole thing. So with yesterday being December 1st, I was extremely excited to be putting up the first of the decorations! I thought I'd do a quick post to share my tree with you.
Seeing as my room is red and white I decided to use these colours for my tree except in the end I just went for red and I really like how it looks. It looks better tha previous years as I got a new green tree rather than a silver one...
This year feels more festive and cosy to me!
I love all the glitter and everything on this tree, I just feel like my room is a lot more festive feeling! I particularly love my tinkerbell which I got a few years ago before I redecorated my room red and it just happens to match perfectly! I'm thinking of doing another post soon with the other decorations in my room. Also, I've decided to get an Instagram specifically for this blog! I'm going to be post make up products, fashion and blog posts and blog related content, I hope you will enjoy it and give me a follow! (@anotherbritishgirl_) I guess I can also say MERRY CHRISTMAS now!

Christmas Tag 1

I don't care how old I am it how old I get, as soon as we hit December 1st I break out all the decorations and pretty much have Christmas music on repeat 24/7. Christmas is most definitely my favourite time of year and I'm so excited that next week the countdown begins! Eek!! I'm also very excited to be able to share two Christmas themed tags with you guys!

1. What's your favourite holiday movie?
This is such a difficult first question! I absolutely love all the great Christmas films. Like everyone else on the planet I love Elf (seriously, who doesn't?) I also really like the Rudolph movie which I don't think many people know about...
I've watched this movie pretty much every Christmas since I was little but we only had it on video so a few years ago my mum went on this huge search on te internet to find it on DVD and she succeeded, yay! The polar express is also a favourite, to be honest if it's Christmas related I'll probably love it! Oo and the Christmas beauty and te beast is great!

2. What's your favourite Christmas colour?
When I think of Christmas and colours associated with it I automatically think of red and green so I'd say that. I love all te pretty multicoloured lights though.

3. Do you like to stay in your pjs (it actually said pjs so don't judge me) or dress up for Christmas?
I am definitely one for dressing up. Every year we do the same traditions for Christmas and go to my grandma's house for dinner so I dress up then and then get into my pyjamas quite early I guess and watch the cute Christmas specials and then stay the night at my gran's. So I guess I dress up but not over the top as we just stay in.

4. If you could buy one person a present this year, who would it be?
This is pretty tricky but I guess I'd buy a present for my family to share like chocolates? Or something better than chocolates but I can't think off the top of my head.

5. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
Christmas mornin obviously!! Who opens them on Christmas Eve? I tend to open my grandma's present on Christmas Eve as I can thank her because she comes round on Christmas Eve.

6. Have you ever built a gingerbread house?
I sure have! And a gingerbread train which we got a kit for and I was quite pleased with the result of it. I tend to leave the Christmas baking to my mum though.

7. What do you like to do on your Christmas break?
A lot of Christmassy things like watch Christmas movies, snuggle up by fire with hot chocolate and blankets, read and go out place with friends like ice skating (my favourite is the outdoor ones). I like to do a lot I guess but at the same time it's mainly relaxing.

8. Any Christmas wishes?
I haven't at the moment but I guess I will but it's not really a tradition I have or follow.

9. Favourite Christmas smell?
This is super easy for me! I absolutely love the smell of real Christmas trees but only my grandma has one but I love it. I also love the smell of Christmas treats and all the things you smell when you go out.

10. Favourite Christmas meal or treat?
For meals I love the traditional roast dinner (which is a bit strange as usually I don't like them that much but I guess anything else on Christmas Day would be weird). Obviously I have a huge sweet tooth so I love the Christmassy treats.

I hope you enjoyed my little Christmas tag and I look forward to sharing another one with you soon! Hopefully I will do some more Christmassy post on the lead up to Christmas!! I'm super excited!

Schedule

As much I as I love blogging, I find it very difficult to find time to wrote and publish posts. Homework and revision are the main reasons which stop me from blogging and then even when I don't have any homework I or I've finished it I don't tend to blog as I like to just be able to relax rather than use my brain to write a post. Anyway, I've finally decided that I want to create a schedule as currently I have posts all over the place. At the minute I'm not sure what days are easiest for me to upload but I'm thinking maybe Wednesdays and Fridays? I know these two days are close together and I will probably end up changing the plan but I think these are the days I have the most free time. I am likely to do Fridays  but Wednesday may become Tuesday instead. You guys probably aren't too interested in this but I thought I'd share it anyway.

Smile Bracelet

A couple of months ago I was scrolling through Zoe Sugg's Instagram (Probably procrastinating!!) and I found this picture of a lovely wire bracelet
I noticed that she mentioned a blog post on it so I was quickly searching through her many posts to find the one all about it. She got it from etsy from a seller called creativedesignbythao. I decided I really wanted one and I don't have a lot of nice jewellery so I thought this would be perfect. There a tons of super pretty words and designs to chose from and you are able to personalise it to have whatever word you want so it made it incredibly difficult to decide what I wanted! In the end I opted for "smile" as I wanted a word one but I couldn't think of anything else to have. As I was having this for a birthday present I had to choose quickly and looking back I probably would have had a different word. I ordered this the week before my birthday which is October 6th and with it being from America it didn't arrive here until the beginning of this month. I was so excited when I was a little parcel addressed to me on my kitchen table and I knew I wanted to do a blog post on it! The bracelet came in a lovely little blue box with a white bow and ribbon which I sadly lost *cry*
For colour options you get the choice of silver, gold or rosegold which is what I went for. To fasten the bracelet, there is a simple hook kind of thing
As much as I really love the bracelet, it has a lot of faults. As well has the very long delivery time there was a huge customs charge which I accept cannot be helped. What I am most disappointed in is how flimsy the bracelet is. It bends out of shape so easily and I get worried that it will snap. I can't really see it lasting very long so for how much it cost, I don't really think it's worth it. I do wear this bracelet everyday though and I find it so pretty and sweet. I will probably look for a stronger alternative on other websites such as Amazon.

Primark Autumn/Winter 2013

One of my favourite stores is Primark, mainly because of all the great bargins. I love how you can get the latest fashions for a lot cheaper than at Topshop for example. People generally assume that Primark isn't that great quality but I actually think is really good considering the price. Whilst looking for inspiration for a new blog post I came across the Primark Autumn/winter collection. I browsed through it and found some really nice pieces.
I wouldn't really wear all of these items but I still really like them. My favourite item is the blue jumper which is also available in pastel pink and cream.
What do you like best and do you like Primark like me or are you more of a high end brand kind of girl?

Jennifer Lawrence Pixie Cut

It seems that Jennifer Lawrence is the next celebrity to opt for the ambitious pixie cut.
Following in the footsteps of Emma Watson and Beyoncé, Jennifer has decided to chop off all her lovely locks. I'm more a fan of longer hair myself but the fact that it's Jennifer Lawrence, I think she looks amazing and she could pull off anything. It is a risky decision to make, it's very permanent.. I personally don't think I could ever do it to myself. I much prefer Jen's long hair and I'm sure many girls were envious of it. What's your favourite hair of Jennifer's?

I ❤️ Fall Tag

Not going to lie, it feels slightly weird calling this the I <3 fall tag seeing as here in England we just call it Autumn which does sound a but boring. Don't even know why it's called autumn? I get that fall is like falling leaves... I think?? (It is right?). For the original I <3 Fall Tag, a lot of the questions are to do with Halloween and Halloween traditions but in England Halloween isn't taken as seriously as it is in America and I don't really enjoy it that much. I searched through google and found a blogger who did this tag but she was from New Zeland and their Fall is at a different time and not during October so she made up her own questions which I really liked. Unfortunately I don't have her URL otherwise I would give her cred and link her.

1. Favourite fall lip product?
For fall any lip balm is a complete necessity as your lips are bound to get dry. Lip glosses can be nice as well but I'd say lipsticks are a no-go as they dry up on your lips. I love lip butters as well because they can be layered on and absorbed to give you baby soft lips. My favourite lip balms currently are the Baby Lips which only came into the UK this summer.

2. Favourite fall nail polish?
I have a lot of trouble finding colours that suit me and I find that lighter colours are better on me but I love all the deep burgandys and reds of fall and just any dark shades but they don't suit me a lot. I do also love nudes and I think that they actually don't look terrible and weird on me so I'd say nudes.

3. Favourite fall drink?
HOT CHOCOLATE. Without a doubt, hands down. I don't drink any other hot drinks, I wish I liked tea because the idea of reading whilst all snuggled up and drinking tea seems so nice. Drinking tea also seems like such a British thing to do. Hot chocolate is great because it's drinkable chocolate that's warm! What's not to love?! I also love the different flavours like orange flavour.

4. Favourite fall candle?
I never use candles but I really want to, I think they look so pretty and cosy in bedrooms. I always liked the idea of the scented Yankee Candles but whilst in the shop a few weeks back they all smelt really sickly and weird. I found about 1 nice smelling one but it was a summer one. Does anyone know if they smell different when they're lit? I actually really like the sent of the cheap Glade candles, the festive line is the best!

5. Favorite fall scarf or accessory?
I don't wear scarves a lot but I really love snoods but I've never owned one because I get really annoyed at having thick things around my neck. For accessory  I think the best one is mittens because they look super cute and they keep you warm, yay!

6. Must have fall clothing item?
Jumpers. My wardrobe is currently packed with big oversized jumpers, I literally love fall time because of jumpers. I live for Primark jumpers (sorry).

7. Favourite fall activity?
To be honest, I don't really do "fall activities" but I love all the tumblr style photos of walks in huge forests filled with orange and yellow leaves and snuggling up with a book, a blanket and a hot drink. I love all those sorts of ideas but to me they seem to be more like what Americans do (is that true or am I just stereotyping?) England is so lazy when it comes to celebrations and seasons, we literally do nothing exciting.

8. Why do you love fall?
So many reasons! I love the cosiness of it, I love the snuggly jumpers, I love the colours I love the cold weather. Yes I actually love the coldness (on weekends) because it means I can sleep with layers and layers on top of me and feel so warm and cosy.

What's your favourite season and why? Do you love fall as well, what reasons?

Blending In To Stand Out

Recently I've been seeing camoflauge print here and there. So far I've not seen a huge surge of it hit the high street but I have a feeling that soon, camoflauge could be the thing to be seen in. I've noticed that Topshop have a lot in so it probably won't be too long before the other stores catch on too.
All items shown above can be purchased from Topshop
